Manual Handling Training
Not a lifting demonstration. A risk-assessment habit.
What this course is
Most manual handling training is a person in a polo shirt bending their knees next to an empty box. Ours is built around the loads your team actually shift — kerbs, blocks, rebar, ducting, plasterboard, and the awkward one-off nobody planned for.
Handling injuries account for a large share of all work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The damage is usually cumulative, which is why the habit matters more than the single perfect lift.
Who it is for
- All site operatives
- Delivery and materials handling teams
- Supervisors planning material movements
- Office and welfare staff handling stores and deliveries
What delegates will be able to do
- Describe the structure of the spine and how handling injuries actually occur
- Apply the Avoid – Assess – Reduce hierarchy required by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations
- Carry out a TILE/LITE assessment of a handling task
- Recognise why there is no single safe weight limit and what the HSE guideline figures really mean
- Select and use handling aids appropriately
- Plan and execute safe individual and team lifts
- Report and act on early symptoms rather than working through them

Common questions
Is there a legal maximum weight a person can lift?
No. There is no legal weight limit in UK law. The HSE publishes guideline filter figures, but they are a screening tool, not a permission slip — the assessment is what matters. We cover this properly on the course.
How much does on-site manual handling training cost?
Our standard on-site group price is £495 for up to 12 employees, with training taking approximately 3–4 hours at your workplace. Larger workforces, multiple sessions, shift-based delivery or multiple sites are quoted individually. Prices are subject to location and training requirements, with VAT applied where applicable.
How many people can you train at once?
Our standard on-site group is up to 12 employees. We keep practical groups small so everyone gets observed and corrected. For larger workforces we provide a tailored quotation.
Do you deliver on site?
Yes — and for manual handling it is the better option, because we can use your actual materials.
